December 14th, 2016 – JARC Florida Parent Forum at 6:30 pm

JARC (Jewish Association for Residential Care) Florida is launching their 2016-17 Parent Forum program on Wednesday, December 14th at 6:30 with Different Brains founder Hackie Reitman, M.D. He will be presenting his personal story of being the parent of an adult with Asperger’s syndrome, and on the importance of neurodiversity awareness and understanding.

November 18th, 2016 – “Chamber Music for Body and Soul IV” in Chattanooga, Tennessee

Music therapy advocate and Different Brains contributor Martha Summa, along with several leading regional musical organizations, will collaborate in a unique chamber music event on November 18, 2016 beginning at 7:00 pm in the Roland Hayes Concert Hall on the campus of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Musicians from the UTC Department of Performing Arts, Huntsville Symphony Orchestra (HSO), and the non-profit organization Music Therapy Gateway In Communications (MTGIC) will combine their talents in a concert designed to educate and entertain the audience on the positive therapeutic outcomes for motor, speech, and cognitive challenges utilizing music as a direct conduit into the brain. A pre-concert lecture is scheduled at 7:00 pm, followed by a 7:30 concert featuring Olivier Messiaen’s remarkable composition, Quartet for the End of Time. The event is supported by a grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission to MTGIC as part of their 2016-17 Arts Build Communities grant cycle. This event is free of charge and open to the public. October 8th, 2016 – Autism Spectrum Leadership Conference

Hackie Reitman, M.D.  will be giving a keynote presentation on neurodiversity and leadership to the Autism Spectrum Leadership Conference, hosted by AASCEND and San Francisco State University’s Autism Spectrum Studies Department. He will also be presented with AASCEND’s 2016 award for Significant Contributions in Development. The conference will also have appearances from other Different Brains™ alum, including Michael Bernick and Eric Zimmerman.

September 17th, 2016 – Trailblazing2016

Hackie Reitman, M.D. will be a keynote speaker of this exciting event.

From their website: “#TRAILBLAZING16‘s purpose is to provide the inspiration, education, and guidance required to help change the future for persons with disabilities and the communities they live in. This September, we will host innovators & entrepreneurs that have already begun trailblazing both the present day & the future for persons with disabilities around the world.”

August 18th-20th, 2016 – USAAA 2016 World Conference and Expo

The USAAA 2016 World Conference and Expo features over 30 of the world’s most respected researchers, practitioners, and education specialists in the Autism and Asperger communities will share valuable resources for your child, family member, patient, friend, student, or yourself. founder Hackie Reitman, M.D. will be one of the speakers. He will be participating in a panel on Saturday, August 20th from 8:30am -10:00am, titled “The Doctors and The Researchers.” Later that same day, Dr. Reitman will be giving his presentation “Aspertools: Understanding And Embracing Asperger’s, Autism And Neurodiversity,” from 1:30pm-2:30pm. July 23rd, 2016 – Aspen Institute’s 4th Annual AspenBrainLab

July 21st, 2016 – documentary screening and Q&A

Hackie Reitman, M.D. will be presenting his documentary “Autism, Asperger’s, and the Square Root of 2: A Neurodiversity Documentary.” The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Dr. Reitman. Admission is free, and the screening starts at 6:30pm, preceded by a reception at 6:00pm. It will be held at the University of Colorado’s Anschutz Medical Campus, Auditorium – Room L28-1102.
